How to Calculate the Previous Value Before Decrease?

To find the previous value before decrease, the following formula is used:

Initial Value = Final Value ÷ (1 - Percentage ÷ 100)

Example:

  • $ 80 after 20 % decrease is then, the first value: 80 ÷ (1 - 20 ÷ 100) = $ 100
  • 35 people after a 30 % decrease is then, the first value: 35 ÷ (1 - 30 ÷ 100) = 50 people
