How to Calculate the Whole From the Part?

To find the whole from the part, the following formula is used:

(Part × 100) ÷ Percentage = Whole

Example:

  • If 40 people make up 80% of the class, the class size is: (40 × 100) ÷ 80 = 50 people
  • If $ 25 is 20 % of the total, the total: (25 × 100) ÷ 20 = $ 125
